It is really hard to find someone with cash like that to buy a car, if they have cash they will buy a new one, and it is far easier for the rest to get a new one or even 2nd hand one on PCP etc.

Dealers will not want it unless px, they have shed loads of pcp's they take back in to sell new cars.

You need to find a 2nd hand car dealer to buy it, specialise in high end cars, who then can move it on with finance.

webuyanycar will offer you about 8k lower than trade on that I guess.

I know all this because I sold my AMG privately after I got my XC.
Forecourt 32k webuyanycar 21k, sold it to a dealer for 26.5k (not a Mercedes dealer they did not want to know, though one offered me 24k. It was a pain to sell. and disheartening, as still under warranty and a great car fully loaded.

Exactly these kind of experiences that drove me to leasing. Sold my last owned car when we got the Volvo on BCH (through my business), despite being very good condition, low mileage no VW dealer wanted it without PX, various specialist / prestige / 4x4 dealers would have taken it, but below WBAC prices. Went in the end to a WBAC competitor for a basic trade in price. Don’t underestimate the (perceived? Actual? Made up?) market negativity to diesel SUVs at present, prepare to be disappointed on the £ you may be offered

Our other car is on PCH for similar reasons, we’re on our second PCH for the ‘runaround’

Your Car will always be worth more to you than anyone else. They all take a big tumble in the first 2 yrs and you will only get offers around trade/auction price.

Find a local second hand dealer who has something else you would swap for or try drive the deal.com as I did see before they had a new section where you can effectively offer your car for bids from various dealers.

Best solution keep it and lease the next one, but you wouldn’t be able to get out of a contract hire agreement easily if it all. Tough one but best of luck.

Have a look at the valuation sites like Parker’s and Auto Trader. I had a quick look at Honest John. The price guide from a private seller is £39k to £42k. See

https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/used-pr...D5+Inscription

I was originally looking at a similar spec to yours. The discounted new car price via Drive The Deal is £51k

We-want- any car are a much fairer buyer than We by any car. Even if you have to travel ,it will be worth it....You will find their valuation a lot better than We buy any car....and they will not not start beating down the price you were given online.

That’s called sunken cost fallacy. You would stick with depreciating asset despite no need for it just because you think it’s worth more than you are offered. Each month you wait the true value drops by 500-750. If you don’t need it sell it at whatever you can get for it. It will continue to depreciate.

In terms of fair value and depreciation. volvo sells xc90 with 16-20% discount new if you shop around and that should be your starting point not what you paid or what the MRRP is. First 18m should eat away about 25%. Say 52k new fair price less 25%. 39k is what you should expect. Low mileage will not gain much as it creates problems not just saves wear. Sell anything over that price and you are doing well. What volvo lists them for on their website is their asking price not their selling price and most certainly not what they would buy them for. Now they have these things sitting on forecourt losing value and working capital tied up in stock has cost as well. They have 15% of starting margin baked in for used on average.

Don’t let your emotions or past losses lead you to lose imprudent decision. Granted if you would just buy a new car that would start losing money from new you may be better off keeping this as it does not depreciate as fast.
