Default Buying a C30 2.0 Petrol

Guys (& girls)

Selling my V50 2.0D and looking to buy a 2.0 Petrol C30.

Can anyone offer me any advice of what to look for with this model apart from the obvious.

Seen 3

59 Plate 77k on clock

10 reg 80k on clock

61 reg 100k on clock

trying to decide if an older car with lower milegae is a better option than a newer one with higher mileage

TIA

2012 onwards models offer bluetooth music streaming so if this is important to you (being able to use spotify etc using the steering controls to change track) then go for 2012 onwards.

Earlier models only offered bluetooth phone calls only. Earlier models also offered USB port/iPod cables/Aux in the central arm rest so you can still connect a bluetooth device with a dongle. Or an MP3 player etc.

Definitely check what connectivity it has as you know, the stereos in these cars can't really be changed.

Another thing to note is that 2011 onwards models should have headlights that are considerably less worn out than older models because Volvo stopped using the actual dipped headlights as the 'always on' DLRs and instead converted the fog lamps into actual LED daytime running lights. This was done alongside the Law change that required all new vehicles 2011 onwards to have dedicated day time running lights.

My friend has a 2012 C30 2.0-litre petrol and the only issue that they've experienced in 3 years of ownership is the rear washer pipe detached it's self behind the trim panels on the C pillar.

V reliable car otherwise.

ta v much for that

I'm not that arsed about connectivity tbh - My V50 R Design had the aux input for my mp3 player and I'm not arsed about phone connectivity.

After doing some research on here I've read that they have a timing chain as opposed to the belt so if true that's a plus.

Test driving one tomorrow to see how nippy it is

Its a mazda mx engine a cracking trouble free engine... how nippy was it? The max power is in the 5000 - 7000 rpm range so dont forget to explore that end of the rev counter :-) ...

2nd one (59 reg 77k) was nice - copper colour - very tidy - nice test drive without running out of juice - I collect it tomorrow

Good choice.

2.0i is definitely the best engine to get if you want minimal maintenance costs and long term reliability.

The actual Volvo engines are reliable, but servicing costs are noticeably higher because they are bigger and more complex. The Mazda 2.0i lets you own a Volvo, but gives you the Japanese engine running costs to boot.

just remember that if you are changing up at 4000 rpm its only a 100 bhp engine ( approx)
