Does the D3 AWD qualify for polestar upgrade?

Just wondering if the D3 AWD version qualifies for the polestar upgrade? Was wondering seeing as they use the same 2.4 engine as the D5? just a tuned down version

Firstly the D3 is the same as a D5 BUT it has a shorter stroke and is 2 litres not 2.4 litres .. this makes it a very willing revvy engine even in standard form .
There is a new D3 AWD out now which is 2.4 which confuses things

secondly YES ! There is a polestar upgrade and a very significant one too , probably worth the money .. This is for the 2.4 D3 AWD version
takes your 163 bhp D3 to 225 bhp and your 420 nm of torque to 460 nm , this makes it very similar power to the D5 polestar upgrade .
Polestar upgrades are usualy only a 20 bhp increase but yours will be over 6o bhp

This will utterly transform your car and driving it the way you do now the fuel consumption will be no worse . A remarkable power increase for a "standard" road car ..

Al-Futtaim (the Volvo dealer in the UAE) claim never to have heard of Polestar...and Polestar tell me no Polestar for the UAE. Is this true?

The D3 AWD is listed as being 2.4 litre on the Volvo web site?

In fact there are two different engines marked as "D3":
- first one has 2,0 litres and has only FWD version and can be combined with manual or Powershift gearbox, this engine is equipped with one turbo
- second one is a 2,4 litres engine, exactly the same as D5 (two turbos) and comes with manual or Geartronic transmission. Only AWD version is available.

polestar site says only available on AWD. rules out the 2l by default.

you may want to do some insurance comparisons. it's close to 40% more power. the polestar upgrade for the D5 sees a sub 10% uptick on bhp, and a quote i had on insurance added about 7.5%. worst case, your own insurance company might not quote, and you may have to go somewhere specialist.
