Default 2007 V50 Immobilizer trouble

Hello all,

First time using this forum but I have been a lurker here for a while before then. I have a 2007 V50 which has never really given me any problems until recently. The battery died and I asked for a jump from my younger brother who didn't know how to do it properly. To be fair, I should have been supervising but I was inside the car as he was hooking it up. Long story short, I come out to see he hooked up the charges revered on the car battery. I corrected them right away but I'm not sure if any other damage was done. When we realized the battery was dead and wouldn't hold a charge, I bought a new one and installed it. That's when the alarm went off as I was installing the new battery. I turned it off. I sat back in the car to start her up but as I did I got the message "Immobilizer see manual". I was checking other threads here and I keep getting the idea that I should pull out the CEM and look at the connections there or at least clean them. My question is, besides the errant hookup with the battery at the beginning, does the "immobolizer" issue happen just when you hook up a new battery? This car had never given me an issue before this.

it is possible your cem has lost its immobiliser link which can be caused by leaving the car with a flat or disconnected battery for an extended period . also check the fuse for the ecm try to get the car scanned with vida or other good diagnostic tool
