My car had only 7k miles on it when I first saw the message anti-skid needs attention. They ended up replacing 2 parts that had gone bad. Another 5k miles I got the message anti-skid needs attention again, then got the message "temporarily turning anti-skid off". Took it back to the dealer (closest dealer is 90 miles away) & then ended up replacing my master cylinder. All this was covered under warranty, but they kept the car for 3 nights. Cost me a LOT of time (1.5 hour trip one way, 2 round trips). Now, 3 weeks later I am getting the message Anti-skid service required; ridiculous! Got the message during a rain storm, so I think that definitely is not a coincidence. This morning, no rain, no message.

I had this a few times over the last week. Always after a damp night, first thing in a morning. I'm hoping it either goes away or is something simple - could do without an expensive bill!

Would anybody know how to check if it was a sensor causing the Anti Skid Service Message. A way to emlimate it?

I think code reader should give you information if the sensor is causing the problem. If it doesn't you go to dealer and ask them to read the codes and tell you if the sensor is the problem.

Hi All
My name's Craig (CSL) -proud owner (but poorer by the day)of a '56, '07 spec XC90.
I too have recently been the recipient of the 'Antiskid' Warning that has came on - oddly enough the day after I used alloy wheel cleaner for the first time. I left it on for less than the maximum minute suggested but am wondering whether there are any sensors that I may have given the hump while cleaning the wheels. I am now getting to the point that I'm scared to turn the engine on for fear of another expensive warning message. Appreciate any thoughts / easy checks that anyone can suggest that can avoid an expensive trip to the dealer - to turn of the 'Spin Control Off' message that pops up. The flipside of VOLVO's reputation for safety is that a you can't seem to drive any distance without some sort of perilous warning coming up. With so many messages coming up there must be thousands of us V drivers out there who will see these as 'Crying Wolf' after a while - which could have disasterous ramifications.
Apologies - I will start a new thread with this too - as the others seem a bit distant now.

Which cleaner was it?
Wash the wheel again using only water and soapy suds- the best would be to use jet wash. If it doesn't help take off the wheels and wash everything again.
Then, the next step is to go to dealer or someone with a code reader to see which sensor (or something else is causing the problem).
It could be faulty sensor, loose driveshaft bolt, cracked ABS ring, servo sensor,.....

I have a 55 plate V70 and i get the same message, read the codes using a
PPC code reader and it came up Brake pedal pressure sensor, the strange thing is i can go 3 or 4 month without any messages then it will appear every couple of days for a while then again nothing for several months, there does not appear to any pattern to this. Until it stops on permanently i'll leave it alone unless someone as any good suggestions as to checking which sensor it is and how to check the system out.

Don't forget to check the drive shaft bolts. They come loose and throw up the messages you are receiving. One of mine was missing, 3Euro later and the problem was fixed.
I feel all clever now so should say that I found that out from this forum, another huge saving thanks to our fellow Volvo drivers.
