Hi S60-MBS . If you go the seconhand route see if you can try before you buy. You may be lucky and find a unit that works but post on forums often suggest that as the unit is programmed to a specific vehicle ,you may loose some of the facilities . The repair option keeps the programming and everything should work as new .

keith, so far so good. followed what you said but used my local tv repair shop to do the job. i removed it from my car and told him what to do and hey presto!!! gave him a £20 and only took him 10 minutes. only have srs warning showing up but will get rid of that next week. will keep you informed of how long it lasts. but even if its only a temporary fix its well worth it. o and bye the way mine's an 2001 s60 d5.... just suddenly lost the clocks yesterday but kept randomly re-appearing then dying again. had problems with the computer for 6 months now but didnt bother me till this happened. srs light came up a few days ago and then nothing!!! hope this might be of help to others... kieth your a saint!

Hi Micky, The reset cost me a grand old sum of nothing LOL.Chad from GRN is a very helpful chap.I have ordered a ppc tool from him for myself. It took a matter of seconds to reset.

Default Bad news :(

While driving earlier today,The interior of car started to smell abit strange and smoke was coming from dash instrument cluster which went dead very shortly afterwards.I managed to get home and strip dash to take a look. The chip which i had worked on had burnt out.So a new DIM is now on the books.

That's a bummer S60 MBS

I fixed mine as described here, everything worked perfectly for a couple of months, long enough to get through the MOT, but eventually it got up to it's old tricks again and now it's back to being tempremental again - bloody thing

Would be a good car if not for this annoying problem

Bad news dude! Perhaps that's why your instrument cluster failed originally - maybe it was trying to burn itself out before and the solder failed?

Unlikely I grant you.

Bought a used DIM which didnt work also,Got some advice of few Volvo specialists and they all reckon a brand new DIM is needed. My car appears to be one of the few that dont want to plug and play.Tomorrow I shall be £800 odd lighter in the pocket and with the thought of possible injector failure looming in my mind another common problem which costs a lot of cash. One suggestion by wife last night was to scrap the car and buy a new car (different brand) which doesnt apear to be bad idea considering,With my luck the price of new injectors combined with DIM is just not economical enough to justify repairs.
