Wiring colours....
Has anyone received a wiring kit with all white wires....?
How am I supposed to finish this simple job without knowing where to put each pin in the block connector. My whole boot is stripped out until I can finish this... I am reffering to step 30 in these instructions... http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-...6/Manual/R.H.D Last edited by aidy55; Mar 31st, 2015 at 22:40. |

It wouldn't surprise me that the cables are differently numbered for identification purposes. If not time with a continuity tester will pay dividends' You know from the instructions where the individual wires exit and enter the various components, not a hard job.
Salut! Pookie

I understand but in step 38 pin 8 says tail lamp but this wiring diagram for a 13 pin socket says pin 8 is reverse. back to step 30 there is no reverse pin...???
The White cables do have numbers but don't make any sense, It says NR which does make sense but then it's like nr14 nr15, nr16. And also if you look at the cables, there is 8 showing and 1 taped up. I don't understand why 1 has been taped up... Last edited by aidy55; Apr 1st, 2015 at 09:47. |

I totally agree with Pookie, a cheap continutity tester will be invaluable if you are voyaging into the realms of trailer / caravan electrics which are exciting to say the least! Alan |

I have a multimeter and can do a continuity test ok. Never thought of that though...lol
But I need 9 wires for a 13 pin socket, yes...? I can't see why one has been taped up but at least i will be able to determine what pin it is.. This is what I should be looking to achieve, am i correct...? 13 pin socket block connector 1 10 2 12 3 3 4 9 5 7 6 11 7 8 8 1 9 5 So basically i just put one probe to pin 1 on my 13 pin socket and the wire that beeps inside the boot goes into number 10 on the block connector...and so fourth... |

Thats it, but check and double check before you plug the socket into the module.

I got hold of a Volvo 13 pin wiring loom but no instructions, as well as continuity tester I used an A4 sheet of paper and sketched out the 13 pin socket and multiplug, then using the cars wiring diagram gradually linked it all together. Pleased as punch when it all worked first time.

Unfortunately I've had problems doing this. First problem is regarding pin 6 on the 13 pin socket. This is the brake pin. I am getting continuity across two white cables at the block connector, NR15 and NR16, as you can see these cables are in their own unique black insulation. What is the deal with this? Do i only need one,any one???
Second issue is with pin 5 and 7 on the 13 pin socket, these refer to right rear position light and left rear running light. Whats the deal with these, why have they different names, are they just left and right tail lights..?? Because for pin 5 and 7 Im getting continuity across just one cable...?? So should i put this pin in 7 or 8 of the block connector Im then left with two cables, one which was never even terminated, one beeps for pin 10 and the bare wire for pin 12, my guess is neither of these is needed... |

I've had a think about this, but I'm stumped.
Could you not go back to volvo and ask them, on the basis that their instructions don't match the part that you have bought, and therefore it is not fit for purpose?
