As a quick variation to KYPREO’s idea, I have used this tie wrap trick to achieve the same result on at least 3 Volvos (S60, V70 and XC70)
Drill a small hole through the plastic bits shown and hold the spring back with some thin tie wraps. Very quick, easy and cheap! I used white tie wraps as they were all I had at the time. Black tie wraps might look better, if that’s a problem. |

Which browser and type of device are you using - check settings in both re: pictures, downloads etc. If you are using an android/device go to settings and turn off "data saver", that setting can block photo and pdf downloads as well as large picture based web pages. NB you'll probably see an empty rectangle or blank page if you have "data saver" on.

Old thread, but just wanted to say thanks again for the guide, done this once before, but always good to remind myself how to do it.
Word of warning to others - don't, for the love of the wee man, consider getting anything other than the genuine Volvo part. I ordered one from Amazon to quickly fix my flappy flap. Just spent hours cursing and swearing because it just wouldn't go on properly. Put the original back on with No 6 self tappers and used the excellent tiewrap solution taking all of 10 minutes.

All I need now is for a fix for the rubber wibbly-wobbly strap which comes away from the filler cap.

"the rubber wibbly-wobbly strap"
I have used old oil filter O rings to good effect in the past as a replacement for fuel cap "ties"
