Default Fitting a headunit

Hi,

A previous owner has attempted to fit an aftermarket headunit into the my 240 estate. They have removed the original stereo and massacred the fascia beyond repair then put the headunit in hole, just sitting there, not in a cage or anything. So everytime you brake or try to press a button the thing disappears into the dash.

I would like to fix this but dont know what the done thing is when fitting an aftermarket headunit to a 240. Do they sell a fascia with a 1din cut out and cage or do you have to bodge around it. in which case i will still need a new fascia anyway.

Secondly where would i buy such a panel?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Firstly- is it at the top of the bottom of the dash?

Chances are it’ll be at the top- I believe careful disassembly of an old
Volvo headunit for that position will leave you with a single din facia you can reuse that fits the space. I haven’t done this but I have heard of others doing so.

I say chances are it’ll be at the top because of it was at the bottom the headunit space is single din anyway and so the previous owner probably wouldn’t have made a mess removing it.

Cheers

This may help.

If no-one on the forum has an old headunit with facia for sale, try giving Lakes Autos a call.
