"Chain guide replace and tensioner replace"
(V70 2.4D Geartronic 2009 currently on 116600 miles)

I thought there were no chains in the 2.4D, any thoughts on the above service book comment written in the Service Stamp box (without a service stamp) next to 86k 04/18 service completed.

Assuming it means 'replaced' with the 'd' missing is this just an error when filling in and they meant belt? Other than every service logged with Volvo there is no other info on anything else being replaced at any point. Would you just renew everything (water pump, alt clutch, tensioners, belts and pulleys) anyway? Doesn't fill me with confidence.

(Noticed I can just make out the earlier year's dealer service stamp no harm in giving them a bell to ask in case they did it I guess).

It's a belt. No harm doing a bit of digging with the dealer to see if all the necessary parts were replaced though.

Those tensioners can be identified as old due to whitish corrosion or sometimes even brown .
Belts can be inspected on cracks or other traces of usages or time

**Update**

Only 2 sevices not recorded by Volvo, 2012 & 2022

108k service done 2014 but no record of any cam belt being changed with Volvo so hopefully done 2012 (~46k doubtful) and (or at least) 2022 (~112K) but no proof.

Aux belt and tensioner change only recorded once in 2017 at 80k. Dealer checked expecting cam done as well but no invoice for it recorded.

It's been well serviced by Volvo but no evidence anywhere of the cam belt (and much else) being done. Looks like I'll have to replace everything asap!

Any idea of discount amounts available through The Volvo Owners' Club?

(Oh and last dealer I spoke with said Volvo have revised their belt schedules to 6 years - so take that as you will.)
