How does one drain and refill the box - are there separate drain and filler plugs/sockets and where do they hide?

The patch bolts appear to be part 9454743; how many of them do I need and are they available over-the-counter or special order from Gothenburg?

I might just get the seal and have the garage fit it IF the existing one looks to be dying.
To see if the existing seal is dying, the flywheel will need to come off (may have to for resurfacing/skimming anyway) so you may as well change it or have it changed i should say. As pointed out, they have to warranty theor work so it's down to them if it fails in short order.

I can never remember if it's 6 or 8 patch bolts on the flywheel on the red blocks, Luke would be able to confirm certainly as i think he has one or two spare or dead engines floating around. A volvo dealer could also advise on quantity and availability.

9496379 is the P/N for the flywheel bolts and there are 8.

Here you go Alf

If your gearbox is changing fine and on fairly low miles I would leave it alone tbh

It's on 224k and, as I remarked above, I've no idea whether it's a good, bad or indifferent box.

Same as what the guy who changed my flywheel/clutch said. He recommended not to disturb it so I agreed. Same with the input shaft seal on the M90, it was bone dry in the bellhousing so also left that well alone.

Does anyone know the part number for the drain copper washer?

https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/s...ssembly=239237

Only lists the fill one, 11998, maybe same for both?

If you do take the flywheel off than the 946379 bolts are for the dogdish flywheel and too short (and 9454743 look too short as well).

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...760-240-946379

The dual mass takes longer ones, they're about 45mm long:

Ah here we go. M10x45mm. 978271.
https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...n-m10/1029277/

There's also the plastic ball seat thing on the clutch fork that wears. In extreme cases it wears through that and the fork as well.

3549638 Pivot pin
9163851 Ball seat

The owner takes them away and usually weighs them in.

I've got one here I think that I'm keeping for some random reason that I'm sure will become apparent in the fullness of time.

Fix a chain to them and you can use it to stop your boat floating away
