Default Please help re my T4!!

Hello Everyone,
I have looked through previous questions but can't seem to find one which is like mine - I hope someone can help.

I have a automatic T4 which I adore, but now and again I lose power in the accelorator pedal and have to stop - the engine doesn't stop and when I start the car again it's fine...... it keeps happening and is so embarrassing!!! I've had a computer plug in and it's shown no errors - any ideas gratefully received!!

Many thanks
Clare

Does anything else happen when it loses power? Any particular circumstances when it happens? Also have you tried the search?

Bear with me.. I am new so just thinking about the basics

First thing I thought of was fuel pump or fuel filter.

Then maybe fuel quality (has it just started happening recently? could there be water in the fuel?).

Next thoughts would be accelerator itself. I don't know if it is a cable or fly-by-wire model, but fly-by-wire could mean a dodgy sender unit?

Next thought would be fuel lines on the engine. Injectors could be blocked?

I don't know what order to look at these in, maybe worth paying careful attention to any other symptoms, like stuttering before you lose power, whether it happens when you have a full or empty tank etc.

HTH in any way...

Phil

Hi, I don't know if you worked your problem out but here is what happened to me.. I recently bought 2001 t4 automatic (I just love this car ), and had acceleration problems with it. When I wanted a kick down and pressed the gas peddal down, the t4 downshifted but there was no power, and just by adding more gas, the car suffocated and wouldn't accelerate.. I took it to volvo service and they changed some electronic components around the automatic gearbox and said that it worked fine. Indeed, the warning light (engine fault) was gone and I went on a trip. After trying to accelerate again, almost the same thing!! Took it back and they replaced the fuel pump and now it goes like a bullet! Screaming fast car
I hope this helps!
