Default V40 iPOD Car Kit

I've got a 2000 V40 which I want to put my ipod into. I've done some research and found a few companies that say they have the cable - it connects via the cd changer port - but some of the prices seem a little high (£120 +) considering its just a cable with no cradle or anything.

Has anyone already got their ipod installed? and if so how?!

Thanks

No idea if this will definately work, but...

Have a look at the back of the head unit if there is are a red and white input plug (if not, then sorry out of ideas!), then you can connect a "line-in" jack that has a headphone style plug on one end and one red one white plug at the other end.

You'll have to find somewhere to get the one end of the wire out, in order to plug in the Ipod, but the total cost of this line jack is about £6 from any Dixons type store so this is a really cheap option.

I did this for my last car (clio) and it was great. Only just bought my V40 but I'm planning to do the same again.

I'm just using an old school tape to 3.5mm jack in my S40 at the moment, surprisingly good quality actually.

Either that, or try an iTrip to broardcast it onto FM - about £30.

Thanks for the ideas. Will pull the stereo out tomorrow and look for those inputs I reckon.

Ideally a schematic for the ipod cable that volvo are currently selling ( http://www.volvocars.co.uk/VolvoOwnership/iPod.htm ) for the v70...x70 etc and I can try to make one for v40.

Volvo sterio's don't have the inputs your talking about and the cable in that link won't fit s/v40's.

A lad at work had this problem and ended up using the good old tape adapter method
