Default S60 4CD player - CD ERROR ?

Hi

this is my first post on here since re-joining ...I was a member here about 7 yrs ago when we had our C70T5 anyway, we're back now with an 03 S60 D5.

Everything is fine with it, except the CD players isnt working - it just comes up with " CD ERROR" - it wont even load CDs

is this a simple fix like a reset button somewhere? ...or is it a new unit (have found one - a HU803 on ebay for £99 so not tooo bad I guess)

TIA

cringe ... These jam up when people try to put a cd in whilst the mechanism is still changing from one CD to another , please wait until it says "insert CD "

Smile CD Error issue with 4 CD changer

I have had this problem also, usually when trying to take a CD out. I discovered that the CD changer had moved very slightly and the CD was being prevented from ejecting by the facia. Couldn't be bothered to dismantle the dash. I use MP3s now! You can get a reasonable mp3 holder and FM tranmitter combination on ebay (<£10) and it works fine with the Volvo radios.

We get this intermitantly on our headunit as well. Asked the dealer, they checked it and told me it had an intermitant internal error.

They quoted me £550 + vat + labour to change it. I'll live with the problem for that!!

What I found interesting is in all the receipts I have for the car it had a refurbished replacement fitted when it was a year old. This cost £99, that's some inflation. 550% increase in 5 years!

The problem with changing these is they need to be fitted by volvo as the ECU is programmed to the head unit. You can't just buy one from ebay and change it over, it won't work!
