phone them,, Be seated, (preferably on the floor) Give them the reg / Vin number and they can give you the price for the Exact one for your c30,, then ask about the programing costs to clone yours (if it works enough to be cloned that is

Very brave to call an ECU with next to no diagnostic testing, you will not get much change from 1K, worst of all a new ECU may not fix your problem especially if you have not confirmed all input signals powers and grounds are present. Just because the are no fault codes present it dose not mean the ECU is at fault. Even if fault codes are present they should be treated as a symptom and not the cause until proper diagnostic test plan has been executed.

Well dealer and new ecu is last resort, I am asking as it is a bit weird that ecu has been opened before and sealent around is quite dodgy so I checked loads of things but you're quite right with grounds I need to check them too and also I bought second hand ecu for cloning hopefully they can do it plug and play. Could you elaborate how to check all input signals are ok? Thanks for your post

So today I had a response from previous owner and he told me they checked wiring, fuses, changed battery, changed key barrel, changed ecu and battery and pressure sensor I think it has to be immobiliser lost settings or there is mismatch between key, ecm and ecu any ideas?

A VIDA subscription costs many thousands per year, only Volvo main dealers/some specialists pay for this, they are sadly, the only ones that will be able help you. I think you've tried most of the things you can by yourself, you've confirmed your ECU has been opened and that water has got in, VIDA I'm sure would flag an issue with this if there were problems though. If you're lucky it's a simple dry out/recode of the fobs, failing that, new ECU, either way it's a Volvo only job from here.

Just a little update. I took c30 to dealer and after an hour they diagnosed it with hight pressure pump fault I thought they are retarded as guy from which I bought the car told me it's an electrical fault. So I told them to leave it as it is as they wanted £900 for the pump plus labour plus VAT it would be around £1200. Long story short my mate had a spare pump so just out of curiosity and to prove dealers are incompetent I decided ill change it and after 10 minutes new pump was fitted and car is working now. So I guess I've been proven wrong dealers are capable of diagnosing fault but they are expensive on parts. As I bought that spare one for £120. Thanks for all your input etc live long and prosper lol
