the grommit is above the carpet line, you can just see it with the kick panel off, the wire should drop down ifyour pushing enough through the grommit, i've done it on a mk1 and 2 and not had much trouble,

if my car wasn't at work in pieces i would take a pic for you,

theres no point taking glove box out it won't help in the slightist as theres just a panel behind it and the heater box behind that

OK, I think I'm with you now. I think the reason I may have missed it before is because I undid the two screws holding the front of that plate in position under the glovebox but I didn't do the plastic screw thing at the back as I thought I could see everything clearly. Obviously I am a doofus and I was wrong haha.

I've got to go out shortly but later on I'll get back in there and have another look.

By the way, assuming that all go's to plan... How easy is it to then get the the cables from the rear of the head unit out to same the position as the power cable?

Erm why would you want to do that ? you don't need to run the amp power cable through the head unit at all - the p.con remote wire comes along the opposite side of the car to the power cables - I'd go left side for power and right for audio....less power cable then....

Or do as i did and go down the left side for power cable and remote cable and straight down the centre with the RCA's,

3 screws and the centre console lifts out, feed the RCA's under carpet and under back seats and your there

Yeah I know that. I probably didnt word it right. On my previous install I had the power cable coming throught the bulkhead and down the left hand side of the car. Then the remote lead and the phono's came down the same side from the head unit. I was trying to ask how simple it was to get the cables from the head unit to join up with the power cable and run down the left hand side of the car.

Now people have mentioned going down the right hand side or the centre, that all sounds good to me as well. I just wondered how easy it is to get the cables from behind the head unit to a place where I can get my hands on them.

Basically, I'm finding the Volvo a lot more secure and well built . So ripping bits of plastic off and running cables down like I did in the Vec is just not cutting it here and I'm just trying to find the simplest way to get the cables from A to B without removing things unnecesserily.

CRACKED IT!!

Everything you guys said made perfect sense when I actually got my act together lol.

The power cable finally dropped into view after 30 mins of wiggling about. The rest was plain sailing.

So, everything is up and running perfectly now. I only have a couple more minor niggles....

Where did you guys earth your amps? I looked for a good earth for a while but gave up and temporarily earthed it to the rear lights. Its not ideal but it'll do for now. Where did you guys do it?

Also, on my vectra the backs of the seats were hard board and I mounted my amp on them. No luck with the Volvo. Metal backs. So where have you guys positioned your amps?

Mines just screwed to back of my sub box at moment, bit gash,

It used to be mounted on a false floor with subs behind but i got sick of having no boot,

You could always take one of side capets out and screw abit of wod to it and mount amp on that altho it would mean loosing one of storage trays at one side
