Ipod Classic in V40 Phase 2
hi
I was going to fit an iPod Classic connected via the back of a Sony head unit to give full control. Anybody done this? Any thing to worry about? Halfords say they can fit it for £9.99 so I'll let them do it but it's the placement of the ipod I'm thinking of. I'd also then add a Volvo additional shelf as the Volvo unit is one of those massive combined CD/cass/radio units http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...tegoryrn_79867 |

you could just buy the ipod adapter that plugs into the HU-XXX radios? volvo make one and i think theres a guy thats making them commercially in US (think its called iMIV). would be interesting to know how much they are from volvo...(altho its not on thevolvo model compatiblity list it does work on all HU radios)

what I want to do is have full control over the ipod.
Plus I don't want the huge, and to me, useless, casssette player |

Hi,
I've done it. I fed the lead through into the glovebox, there is a little cut out under the light and the cable fits in that. All the 'gubbins' for it just about sits below the HU |

got single DIN pocket now from dealer so it's off to Halfords (they only charge £9.99 fitting for the one I'm after) |

slightly confused -
what does this http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/volvo...06-p-3288.html do? I was under the impression that it fits into the V40 dash, the head unit then sits into that.Or am I wrong? I already have the proper Volvo single DIn unit that will sit below the head unit. Halfords say that the link is a non Volvo vesion of the proper single DIN pocket - therefore I don't need it. I'm happy with that! |

The item linked is just a cubby hole that fits in the empty space left by converting a double unit to a single.
If you already have one, then you dont need this one. |

though looking again, its not clear if thats right.
It kind of implys that it allows flush fitment of a single din stereo on to the volvo dash to keep a 'factory' look. Now I'm confused too! |

muppets at Halfords had sold me the wrong adaptor lead!
After an hour of faphing around, they told me to come back next week and they'll have the correct one. (GDi so Mitsubishi HU series) I did specify what unit was inb the car when i booked. Is it coincidence or as I now get a brake light warning did they disturb something? Anybody know if the wires pass through the radio slot? |
