Default Anyone know about Amazon 2 door coupe WGH 95G ?

Hi

I have owned a couple of Amazons in the distant past now currently own a P1800S. I'm interested in finding my last 2 door Amazon Reg. WGH 95G which was a B20 in a very pale blue with black interior. I see from the DVLA website that it was last registered in 2002 so it was probably on the road until quite recently. This was a brilliant car and it took me all over Europe and can probably tell a few tales to tell !. Is it on the register ?. If anyone knows where it is now then maybe they can let me know.

Cheers

Paul

Default missing amazon

hi paul, sorry can, thelpwith that one, I am in the same boat so to speak, I purchased a 122s from a chap in harrogate, who had owned HUR122C for the last three years, he purchased it from someone in Cambridge, which according to tyhe tax discs would be the general area, most show baldock herts, the original owner seems to have been a richard dye whose writing was so shaky I have been reluctant to ring for info, however I am interested in the dvla web site having owner seven or eight amazons, 140,240 and 164, can you gives us the web address thanks and regartds and good luck ted

Sadly it is dead. It wasn't a B20, it was actually a very late B18 single circuit car. Back when I worked on Volvos a lot I did a whole load of work to it for the owner. It had been to Pretty Garages, who did some god awfull work to it. I removed one incredibly badly fitted wing mount, put on a brand new passenger door and one new wing, I also did some repairs on the wheel arches, fitted a new lower quarter panel and converted it into a 122S B20 with overdrive.

It fell victim to someone pulling out of a give way junction; not whilst I was driving it as I never actually owned the car, I just worked on it. I did collect it from where it was crashed and took it on its last ever drive. The damage was much worse than it looks in the photo. It bent the front chassis leg and the wheel was about 3 centimetres back. The accident burst the front tyre. I fitted a rim and wheel, and I drove it like that for about 50 miles.

The car had some other issues, the front legs were getting rusty, there was rust round the rear screen and the accident rippled the roof. All in all we decided it was beyond repair. The engine and box are now in a 144S we're restoring. I think I still have its original B18 somewhere as well as a a whole raft of parts salvaged from it.

Default Wgh 95g

Thanks Fivehundred. It was a real shame to see the old girl looking so forlorn in the Amazon graveyard, but I thought that she was probably a gonna as, according to the DVLA website, she was last taxed in 2002. At least she's keeping other Volvo's on the road though. I owned the car back in the eighties and bought her from a chap in Waterlooville, Hants for £900. She was my everyday car and I racked up a big mileage in her as at the time I had a girlfriend at Heidelberg University in Germany and she made that trip and back several times without a hiccup. I even slept in the back off her on a couple of occasions, although I wouldn't recommend it !. You're right though, she was a B18B non-overdrive and badged 133. I did miss the overdrive though on those long trips as my previous Amazon (a 1964 122S) had it and it was a more relaxing drive. When I owned her, I put on a stainless steel exhaust, had all the brakes done and had a new drivers side wing fitted as a result of a prang (my fault). I sold her in 1989 as I was getting a company car ( a boring Cavalier), but always wished I'd kept her. A guy came down from London and paid £2000 for her - the only time I have actually made money on a car !!. I now have a late 1966 P1800S in the same colour (and also a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine). Always fancied another B18B 2dr Amazon though - light blue, dark blue or white - but with overdrive this time. Shame that WGH 95G is beyond saving - I have fond memories of her. Thanks again for clearing this up.
