if you were on the V5 as the last keeper , you can ask for a duplicate logbook

see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...cle/DG_4022404

if not you'll need to fill out a v62

you might be beeter off going into your local DVLA office and explaing the problem

one thing to keep in mind is they might not have your VIN recorded, it might just be the Chassis number, thats all that is on my V5C

I sent off my V5 to register as new keeper of my project, DVLA have not received it.......and I forgot to keep the "new keeper" tear off.

I have applied for replacement book with V62....Cost is £25, (because I can't prove that I sent it !)

They will do checks with last recorded owner before sending one out.

Despite a long legacy of paper transactions, they do have records going way back......I paid the fee and applied for the history of my '32 ford and after a suitable wait, got scanned copies of a stack of old logbooks.....

Cheers
Gerry
