Default Timing marks

What does yours have in the way of timing marks/pointers?

My engine appears to have nothing - there's nothing on or behind the pulley. There's a small bracket on the lower-right corner of the front cover (looking at it from the front of the car), which seems not to serve any purpose currently. It's quite some distance away from the pulley - maybe there's supposed to be a pointer mounted on there?

Guess I'll have to make a pointer and find TDC with a dial gauge or pistons stops.

Thanks mate, I see, the small wedge/blade thing. Thought that might be the 'pointer' though I've got this little bracket that looks like it might've held a pointer though at the moment it's just somewhere for rust to have a quite life. It's on the 2 bolts in the bottom of your pic.

Have you got degree marks on your pulley? Anyone else?

Guess I have to find TDC and mark mine up.

The pulley rim should be stamped with degree marks , they go from -10 to + 30 or 40 degrees if my memory hasnt faded

Ta. Beggar all on mine. Diagram in the Haynes shows them behind the pulley, on a smaller diameter 'ledge' if that makes any sense, but I've got nothing on mine, on the main rim or behind the pulley.
