In the past I have used Beru and Bosch and not had a problem with either.

It is quite common for the old arm to break as described above. If this happens make sure you remove all the bits, especially the bit that will remain in the notch in the shaft that enables the rotor arm to clip into position.

What about the crank sensor, is that something that can be cheaped out on? Volvo ones are £90, a Bosch one on autodoc is £30 and cheaper random brand ones are £9-30.

The Volvo one has 'Made in France' on the bag so I guess it's from Bougicord. Can only seem to find that them in US for about £35.

For ignition parts I only use genuine or Bosch, while I have bought Beru for emergency spares as well, and these have been fine.

Avoid anything else from Autodoc - they have a habit of substituting their own branded parts without telling you or giving you the difference in price. They have a number of brands including Ridex and Stark. For example they sent me some Stark boot struts for my S70 instead of the Stabilus (OEM) ones I'd ordered where were significantly more expensive. It took a lot of arguing to get them to take the Stark ones back.

I fitted a Beru crank position sensor to my 940 a few months back and that has been fine. Beru are OEM to a number of brands of course.

Crank sensor, originals were bosch or Bougicord . I always fit Bosch and would not trust a cheaper alternative on these.

With the cap and rotor a oil leak through the dizzy will give a no spark or misfire. It has become a very common issue

I have seen the new Volvo oil pump production has moved to China and they are boxing the normal flow pump as a high flow

I have found and only supply UK produced pumps of the high volume type

Same story with water pumps, good job SKF still do a good pump
