Default SRS light

Hello All,

Been a few years since I've needed help. The SRS light on my 1996 940 estate came on a while ago and it turned out to be the clock spring in the wheel. I removed it and sure enough it was faulty, so I forked out for a new one from Volvo, fitted it, but I cant get the SRS light to go out. I tried disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight, but to no avail. The OBD socket is located between the 2 front seats, and I borrowed a snapon unit, but it wont reset the system. I was also told of "a cable" behind one of the headlights which you can short to the body and reset the system, but I cant find any sort of cable.
The last time I was on this site I got a super reply from IVOR 940, he he still around?

Thanks in advance

if the scanner didn't clear the code then you must still have a fault maybe with the wiring to the clock spring

what fault code did you get originally, did it point the fault to the drivers airbag as the seatbelt pretensioners can also give faults

the later model 1995 onwards 940's only have an OBD2 socket in the centre console as you found, there is no way of resetting faults by shorting out connections under the bonnet

People say that 940's can't be read with code readers... there wrong,
the ABS and airbag system can be read by most OBD2 code readers

Cant remember the actual code, however the unit that connected to the car said that there was a wiring problem with the clock spring / steering wheel air bag, it even printed it out. when I examined the original clock spring there was no continuity on either of the 2 cables.
