Selekt warranty

I recently purchased a 2022 V60 from a main dealer which came with a years' Selekt used car warranty..... but surely this is superfluous as the car has the benefit of two years full manufacturer warranty remaining?
I had hoped it would be tagged on to the end of the manufacturer warranty : but seemingly not.......so what's the point of it ?

Hmm... in Norway the Volvo Selekt warranty gives you additional 2 years or 50.000km warranty after the regular 5 years/100.000km.

Depends on how old the car is on purchase.

From Volvo's Selekt website:

NOTE: Vehicles under 3 years old will have the balance of the manufacturer warranty in place unless the car is between 24 and 36 months old in which case the following Volvo Selekt Warranty cover will take over at the point the original Volvo warranty expires.

I also recently purchased used Volvo from authorized dealer.
It comes with three years factory warranty running from the build date (May 2021), and "Volvo Selekt Under 2/60K" insurance product, which has its own T&Cs to read, and covers the car for 3 years from my purchase date (February this year). So I have one more year of factory warranty, and two years of Volvo Selekt warranty, which I can extend by paying extra when it will be closer to end date, I called Volvo Customer Service to confirm this.

that is what I would have expected.... strange that no one (dealer or c/services) can confirm that for me

This all seems to be a bit of a mystery. My car was registered on 31 January 2022, so it should have a warranty until 30 January 2025. I purchased it on 21 February this year, and have a Selekt warranty until 20 February 2024 (so rather pointless) and MoT insurance until 30 December 2025. Doesn't seem to make sense.

ah, so yours also isnt added on to the end of the manufacturer warranty as previously suggested

After a very long phone call involving several departments, it appears this is a paint protection warranty (who knew?) which will cover stone chips and light scratches for a year. They are going to send me the details.
This sems to be in addition to the manufacturer's paint warranty, which only covers defects. I'll read all about it when the info arrives.
What is odd is that this is also a "Volvo Selekt under 2/60k" product, which is the same designation as the poster above.
