Question V50 d5 auto box 2006 problem

Hi guys.

So long story short I brought (private FsH 130k super tidy inside and out)a v50 d5 auto 2006 today.
Test drove it all good and the car was warm when tested.

But after 30mins in to the drive home
(40mph-43mph) and very gear box did not seem to know which gear to be in.

It would change up and down(not rapidly) just every few 10seconds or not hard changes. More like it could not make its mind up on which gear to be in.

This has continued to be the case at the same speed for the rest of day.

No problems at any other speeds that I have noticed.

Now is this common? What would people suggest it may be ?

Have I got big problems or am I just over thinking it?

Thanks in advance guys and girls

Ford (and therefore Volvo) describe this gearbox as sealed for life, however in reality life is about 100k miles, so its possible your 130k mile gearbox is on its original oil. As its sealed for life it never needs checking or replacing to have full service history.

Thanks for your information guys/gals.
But I managed to return the car to whom I brought from... And got my cash back.

Winner winner chicken dinner.
Now the search starts again

Just for reference: many transmission issues can be fixed with a software update, however only Volvo dealership can download and install it.
