Default Car speakers update

Hello everybody. I am planning to upgrade audio speakers in my V50. Could anyone suggest good make with nice performance and range, also I would need sizes that are compatible with my car. I could measure myself but I'd rather avoid disassembling the trim twice if I can do it once! That's me being lazy...

Also want to add little twitters in the rear doors (I'm on "performance" so I was told they are not there). Will they work or do I need some software upgrade?

Any advice welcome. Thanks!

Will keep an eye on this one as my passenger side one is knackered so may as well replace them with something decent.

Nah, got the basement basic, enthusiastically called, performance option. It didn't bother me at the beginning but I spent a few hours driving and listening to my fav records and the sounded ****e. I heard the head is not that bad, just the speakers are a bit a cheap side, very nasty.

The front speakers in the standard model are 16.5cm across. They rivet to the door frame using 3 rivets.

You shouldnt have too many problems attaching a new speaker though you probably would need to re-drill holes. (I did this on my 2.0d).

The rear door tweeter compartments are empty, but live cables are clipped to the inside of the door card.

Remember not to overload the system, power wise.

Stock front speaker "unit" (I cut out the actual speaker, dont ask why):

Do you happen to know what is the head unit's output power?

And why did you cut out the speaker?

I read somewhere that head unit is 4x40W for performance.

I think i'll go for 4x Hertz 2 way coaxial speakers for the doors and extra tweeters for the rear doors. I would love to stick a speaker into the dash where the grille is, maybe a nice woofer or sammat.

Does yours have a grill then with no speakers?

Please let me know what speakers your opt for in the end please as I'd like to change mine seeing as people are saying its worth changing them
