Use it all the time. Especially when overtaking. Never use it in town.

Yeah, I use mine quite a bit, too. To assist with engine braking when going downhill, mainly!

Shouldn't an Auto box do this for you?

TBO I've never had an auto b/4

Don't you just kick down on the accelerator for extra revs?

The Geartronic really comes into its own when you are offroad. You do not want to floor the accellerator to change gear when you are approach a steep incline at slow speed. It works very well and better than a manual box in these circumstances.

Default Geartronic Use

Having had "both" auto systems, including whaever LR called their system on the V6 Freelander, I prefer the current Volvo set up.

Use..? very rarely from start, but use many times on low speed stuff particularly as the approach to Bhowani towers now has multi speed humps which is a 20mph limit, and a "sitting in second" job. It is easy to do one manoevre across the box, putting it into G mode than "catching it" as it passes through 2nd on the way up the box, as you had to do in the 2004 V70normal auto box.

Enjoy!
