Default whats the correct sequence to bleed brakes?

Just wondered if any one can confirm the correct way to do this?

Ive always been led to believe you start furthest away from the master cylinder - in my case N/S Rear and finish up closest to master cylinder O/S front. (my cars got ABS)

FAQ seem to suggest starting in the same place but then it says 'carry on in any order'

Ive just completed the 'epic' brake overhaul - new pads cleaned up callipers new front hoses and new servo hose.

and touch wood - thank in no small part to all the info ive gleened from here - everythings gone ok and i must have saved at leat a hundred quid on labour charges.

thanks in advance

Indeed, furthest away from master cylinder and work your way back towards it.

Unhappy dissapointing

well. maybe my expectations were too high.
I was anticipating tapping the brake pedal with my toe and the back wheels lift off the ground - as it is theres no noticeable difference to how the brakes were before i started. Ultimately it stops ok.

there just seems quite a bit of travel in the pedal - not right to the floor - have noticed when you press the pedal a couple of times in quick succession it always feels noticably firmer.

I flushed about a litre of fluid through - so im reasonably confident thats all fresh, ive never experienced any signs of fluid loss since ive had the car.
Theres no signs of any leaks and the new pipes all appear to be tightend up properly and not leaking

Im tempted to buy another litre of fluid and bleed them again just to make sure - could the servo be knackered - I noticed when i swapped the hose on this the plastic union would spin around quite freely - although the washer in the servo doesnt appear perished?
