Lambda Sensor issue

Right,

Today i received my new Lambda sensor and fitted that along with the replacement one that i had lying around.

Once fitted i cleared the stored codes and for the first time the dash was free from warning lights.
Well, that was up until about 30 minutes later when driving and the lambda warning light came back on.

I can only assume that it's the CAT that is the issue as i haven't replaced this yet. And it's not for the want of trying.
I wanted to replace the CAT because the turbo was blowing oil up until i refurbished it and i can only assume that the oil has contaminated the CAT.

I've been in touch with someone on eBay and asked for a quote for a replacement turbo and CAT.
After a day or so i got a reply and was given a price of £100.

Great i thought. I can finally get this car running something close to what it should be.

Since then the bloke has gone quiet and i'm back to square 1.5.

What has been the experience of some you guy's when it comes to the lambda warning lights coming back on shortly after replacing them?

On my 1st T4 i just replaced the sensors and cleared the codes job done.I carnt see a cat being knackered mate,is there still traces of oil hanging about ?it takes ages to clear it did on my T5.Have alook at the end of the lambda sensors and see if there is anything stuck to it first

Both the sensors were free of any filth or foreign objects to what i could see.
What surprised me though was that they were all NTK branded sensors.
Even the ones that were removed were NTK.

I can only guess that it is my CAT Rick.
It is the only part that hasn't been changed (turbo not included) since my turbo was blowing oil and i have read somewhere that blown turbo's can mess a CAT up through depositing excessive oil like mine was.
I found approximately a tablespoons worth of oil in the intercooler pipe alone and the TCV lines needed blowing out to clear the oil there.

I'll have to have a look in the sales section for some bits.
I haven't heard anything from Tommy since i last messaged him as i was going to have some bits of him but he never got back to me on two separate occasions.

My commitment to this motor is starting to wane a little and i'm in the frame of mind of just giving up.

What is the maximum year vehicle i can look at to get a turbo and/or CAT before there were significant changes made so they would not be compatible?

And for the turbo itself, i assume that any changes to the turbo's would mostly be housing.
Would the cartridge still be the same from, say, a 2003 model v40?

I think its x reg or y reg.there is plenty of bits on this forum to fix your car.dont get rid of the t4 there isnt many now

First if you get in mind a T4 is very fussy and you cannot give it inferior sensors without it complaining.

It does look as though you have replaced inferior O2 sensors with new inferior ones and that is why the light has come up again.

To be sure you must read the codes again and if for the sensors as they have there own generic code then this is your trouble and not the cat.

I don`t understand how oil got dumped in the cat. as it usually gets dumped in the intercooler.

When i had my t5 i was sold a dodgy 16g turbo and it was leaking oil badly through the exhaust side and took me months to clear it out

I'm going to get my OBD2 device hooked up in a little while.
I'm stumped as to why the sensors would work for 30 minutes or so and then throw up a warning again.

Apart from the lambda sensors themselves being the issue, what other problem could there be that would cause them to fail?

I'm far from willing to spend money on original Volvo parts if there is the slightest chance of this happening again.

Well having hooked up my device I am now getting,

P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit

On both sensors.
This leads me to believe that the sensors are perhaps ok and the issue may lie elsewhere.

Before replacing the sensors I was receiving a low voltage message too.

I'm thinking airflow meter could be an area to look at.
I don't think the map sensor is faulty as I have just replaced that.

Also, I am using a piece of software called Scanmaster.
What this is telling me is that the issue lies at the fuel and air metering so perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place completely.
