Default Temperature gauge on V50 D3 Engine

Hi All
I have a V50 SE D3 September 2011, has anyone got a V50 or C30 with a D3 engine? Could anyone tell me how many miles it should take for the temperature gauge to reach full temperature. Mine sometimes takes between 10 to 20 miles. Had it to the dealer today but they could not find anything wrong with it. Any ideas.

Thanks

Regards

It should take no longer than a few miles , 3 i would say .. its mild this week so probably even quicker . Are you getting warm air from the heater ok ?
You say they could not find anything wrong with it , did the gauge go up to N within 3 miles?
A test you can do yourself , from cold , go for a drive , after a couple of miles if the gauge isnt on N yet , stop . get out leave the engine running and feel the top radiator hose , it should be cold ... If its luke warm you need the thermostat looking at ..

Hi Clan
Thanks for your response.
The heater is giving heat as normal but the gauge is not reading full temperature at about 3 miles. At about 3 miles it reaches the 10 0'clock position but from then to normal temperature, it can take a further 6 or more miles, depending on the weather.
I will try your suggestion and let you know.

Hi Clan
Been out in car today, temperature went up to normal within 3 miles and same again coming home.
Dealer must have done something, as when I went to pick car up from dealers on Friday the radio was on, I thought they must have put it on when testing it, so I turned it off, I never have the radio on. Today I started the car to go out and the radio came on again so switched it off again, same happened when I started car to come home again. I think the dealer must have done something to the car, not sure what?
Thanks for your help.

They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and no mention of software updates so really don't know, at least it is working for the moment, I will take it back if the gauge plays up again.
Its not been in since it had its 3 month check at end of November, I had taken it in because door locks were going up and down and the lights were flashing on and off for about 5 minutes, they said they couldn't find anything wrong then! I got the code off it and it was drivers door module that caused that problem but they said there was no codes on the car, so presumably all software updates were done then. The codes were still on but have not checked after this last visit.

Will see how it goes,
Many thanks
