Default T5 timing belt interval?

After much deliberation, I've decided to down size from the V70 and am now in the market for a V50 T5. I have a budget of around £7000 which I reckon should get me a good 2005 / 2006 with around 70,000 miles. So, can anyone tell me what the timing belt interval is on the T5 (and any other things I should look out for)?

Thanks.

It 108000miles or 10 years, I checked before I purchased my 2005 S40 T5, I came from a V40 T4 and I have to say after a couple of stupid niggles I'm loving the T5, & I paid no where near 7k for mine & mine was from a garage (2005 70k 2 owners), I reckon you could get a 2007-8 for that budget. I think the only week points are wheel bearings, & wishbones that seem to go around 50-70k, luckily mine had all of the above sorted a month before I got it :-)

Cool - thanks for the info. Must say I'm quite excited about changing to the V50 T5. From what I've read, meant to a much more fun drive than the big V70 (even without T5 power). Reckon I'm going to follow your lead and go all black with the front grill (saw your other posts) aka my V70. Looks much better I reckon. Seems to be quite a lot of tuning potential for the T5 also. Not going to rush into buying the first one I see but (for once) planning on waiting for one that fits my 'wish list'. Watch this space!

I was very lucky with mine as trying to find a manual T5 with less than 100K on is quite tricky, especially with the budget I had, then the weekend I was due to sell the T4 one turned up in a garage in stirling at a decent price that ticked every box, and I got them down a bit more so i was well chuffed :-)

Yep they only started putting T5 in S40's in 2004, prior to that the model before was a T4 engine and the interval on that was 88k or 8 years, as for as I'm aware the T5 in the s/v40 are all 108 or 10 years, I'll be getting mine done early as a precaution probably next year...

Both of the T4's I had, I had to do the timing belt, neither were at the mileage but were the age one was 67k & the othe 64K but both were coming up to 8 years, I got them done as a precaution, & my local indy garage was £195 & £205 (he did an oil change as well on the 2nd one) for the belt & tensioners with volvo parts so not that bad really hopefully the T5 will be around the same price. & I'll get it done around 80-85 to be safe
