I have used Volvo long life and Philips Extreme and have cleand the reflectors as well. Just do a search for headlights, cleaning or variations. I have found both types of bulb to be good, but the Philips are really good.

I could do with knowing how to take the connector block off, the clip broke whilst I was trying so didn't carry on.

Drove the car tonight and can happily say that there's a big improvement on light output. The light is much whiter with hardly any shadow/black areas, almost even light output. The distance is probably the same but I'm guessing that's due to the headlamp adjustment rather than light output.

I know they're expensive, might only last 12 months max, but I feel a lot safer driving on these country roads, and most importantly can see where I'm going!!!

I cleaned both reflectors tonight and can definitely say there's another improvement.

It was quite easy in the end and surprising how the reflector was covered in a cloudy grease/slime. There really is a difference when you compare the cleaned and the uncleaned together.

As for light output, I'd say the range has improved a lot and the brightness is even better. As I drove home from work now I didn't feel the need to use full beam at all, happily drove on dipped beam, very pleased.
