The heater pipes on my Silver Cloud were Cupronickel. Still the original pipes at 55 years old and no issues.

Any idea yet for the fluid loss.

Thanks for the reply. Someone said to me that the cupronickel will react with the coolant

I know I am loosing a bit of coolant each journey from the join of this pipe and the short rubber one. My metal pipe has corroded and rubber pipe also on last legs.

However, I am also noticing a little of what looks like oil on the back of the sump and what I think is the auto box oil cooler. Do the pipes to/from that leak?

As I am changing this metal coolant pipe and the short rubber one - is it worth changing all the old coolant pipes? The ones I can see around the reservoir are pretty soft and swollen.
Worth changing or am I wasting my time/money as they are likely to be fine for years to come?

Any pipes that are soft and swollen need changing.

Use Volvo coolant PN 31439721 4L from FRF was a good price. If you don't know when the thermostat and temp sensor were changed you are well advised to replace them. Get the thermostat with the pin valve it allows air to bleed out if you fit the vale facing forward in the housing - comes complete with rubber seal.

After i had the pipe made a breaker got in touch to say they had a good genuine pipe. So i used that.
Leak now stopped and the oil misting on the back of the sump is dryer. I wonder if the coolant was just wetting the old oil already there..?

If any one needs a cupronickel turbo coolant return pipe, give me a shout.
