So far the redex seems to have cleared my problem.

I also used some forte diesel cleaner including turbo cleaner from amazon.

Haven’t had the boost pressure fault for a while now. I’m classing it as fixed.

So the problem seems to have returned. Especially over the last few cold mornings. Is that an indication that it’s the turbo vein pipes?

Once it’s warm and the code has appeared then gone it doesn’t return until the next morning or when engine is cold again.

I will try some more turbo cleaner, seeing as it worked last time, whilst i figure out the next move.

Turbo pipes removed and cleaned today.

Along with boost control valve. And egr valve. Fault still appears.

Had a look around intercooler, nothing to note.

Will try idea of bypassing vacuum hoses noted in link on first page of thread.

If not, I think it may be a turbo removal and sent off to be rebuilt.

Any tips on turbo removal ?

From my own similar experience, your symptoms, the fault code, the temporary fix, all point to it probably being dirty/sticking turbo veins I'm afraid. Turbo replacement is a big job. Drive shaft, angle gear off etc. All weekend and a lot of swearing for someone like me.(I didnt try)
It took 4 hours labour at an indie plus about £200 for an exchange refurbed turbo - I can recommend London Turbos.
A smoke test at a garage will rule out any pressure leaks if you want to chack that first. Very much doubt its engine mounts. Good luck!

Had the same fault, checked for leaks etc, nothing found.
Removed the MAP sensor and cleaned it cured the fault for a week, same next time so replaced sensor has now been ok for last two months. Worth trying not expensive, cheers

Thanks for the idea. Will definitely try. Is that the first sensor after the air box/filter? Leading towards the turbo at the back of engine?

Update.

Cleaned the map sensor. No change.
Performed a revive clean on turbo. As I believed that was the culprit, and wanted to try a clean before attempting a removal.

I also finally purchased a vacuum pump to actuate the turbo whilst using the revive turbo cleaner.

Should of purchased sooner.....I then was able to follow the advice testing the vacuum system properly.

Found a possible leak/leaks with

1) the vacuum pump - shows a reading, but needle doesn’t hold steady. Repair or replace?

2) front engine mount. - dead as a dodo, no vacuum. (Volvo also noticed the rear was “showing signs of wear” at a recent service. However it’s holding vacuum - so unsure if to replace both or not. If it’s holding vacuum would you bother?- I have the angle gear in the way....

3 boost solenoid/turbo control valve - obtains a vacuum, but loses slowly. Connecting to input from t piece, finger over the output to turbo. Unsure if this is normal behaviour for the solenoid.

I talk a good game, but have no idea what I’m doing. So any thoughts appreciated.

The mystery continues...... will keep you posted once it’s fixed, however if your reading this and have the same fault code. Buy yourself a vacuum tester or your wasting your time!

For those with similar issues.

Fault hasn’t returned since performing a revive clean and isolating the vacuum pipe to front engine mount.

The fault was either or both.

Will be replacing mount over next few days.
