Thanks for the recommendation for the rear axle. The 240 looks like a good option. I see that it has a LSD which is what I wanted. Anything in particular I should look out for when sourcing one? The Jag engine is 70cm wide so I will need to cut the inner face of the chassis rail off and then fabricate a new section to fit onto the outer part of the rail. The original Volvo crossmember is too tall and the wrong shape; the Jag engine is flat across the bottom so the curved top section of the Volvo crossmember is all wrong. The overall height of the Jag engine means that I will need a crossmember that is 50mm tall so it looks like I am going to have to construct a new suspension system much like 'Iamtherealone' did. I would rather not given all the geometry issues that will need resolving, so open to ideas if you have any alternative suggestions? |

The front end you mention was based on a Mustang II kit. Several of these are available from American Hot Rod shops. They are well proven but pick one of the more well-known brands. Kits generally have a separate centre section so you can cut and weld it in for the track width you want. The centre can also be dropped for sump clearance as needed. A choice of hubs and brakes are available so you can pick a hub the uses the standard full-size Mustang bolt pattern, which is the same as the Amazon.

Or if you want to stay Volvo and match the 240 rear axle you could modify a 140 front cross member
