Default Rear shocks removal

Hi - I have a 2009 XC70 with non self levelling suspension and want to replace the rear shocks. I can see the bolt securing the bottom of the shocks but can't see where they are secured at the top. I've had a good look inside the car and consider that the securing part must be under some trim parts. Anyone got any ideas? I'm reluctant to proceed without knowledge that I'm looking in the right place.

Hello Happy Camper.
I maybe a little late with this however,i did a write up when i replaced mine on my old 2004 XC70.
There might be some similarities in the shocker set up but take a look anyway.
I'd put you a link on to it but it's been that long since i've visited on here i've forgotten how to do it haha.

Default Rear Shocks

Happy Camper,
I changed my rear shocks and springs on my 2008 XC70 yesterday. The bottom eye of the shock has one bolt (i think it was a 18mm), and the top of the shock has two 10mm bolts. All the bolts are accessed from within the wheel arch, so no need to remove interior trim. To remove the shock dust cover and top mount, use a open ended spanner on the nut, and I used an adjustable spanner on the shock absorber shaft flat. It took me less than an hour each side. Just remember to use some fresh thread lock on the lower bolts.
