Default Early-1970s B20 Cylinder Head Set Up For Carbs Not FI

In 1974 some or all B20's in Canada came with a cylinder head that used carburetors and had no FI ports on the top of the head and came with large 44mm intake valves.

I am looking for one and as this head is scarce here in North America I am wondering if Volvo offered the same head on new cars in the early-1970s in the UK and Europe?

I realize that you can plug the injector ports in a FI head but I am looking for one w/out the holes.

Can any of you help or know of a source that has this type of a head?

I do have a couple but they are far from a common head. They only came on the late carb engine or as a Volvo spare part.

Why not fit the bigger inlet valves to a normal B20 head

I'm guessing that you want the '74 B20 head on the basis that they do, apparently, have a better exhaust port shape. Quite why Volvo took that long to revise the casting isn't known, especially as it was only for one year on the cars, USA market only on the first 240. Penta may have carried on using them for a while maybe? They might have made a new pattern for casting.

Derek, Thanks for responding. Yes, better port shapes and other features.

Looking for one of these cylinder heads to put on the shop 1968 220 Kombi engine. Would like to use it for flat towing the 1967 1800s with a tow bar to the vintage races. Anyone had any experience doing such a thing w/a 220?
