Mot
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share my enthusiasm for these cars. I purchased my S registered 1999 V70 2.5 10v non-turbo in 2007 with 92K on the clock. With the car approaching 20 years old it has never failed an MOT! I took a chance this year as I ended up taking it in for testing with a slight split on the end of the off side wiper and a small stone chip in the top centre of the screen. It passed with just these two points raised, and the engine tests were well below the thresholds with the lamda being bang in the middle of the range. I had a couple of advisories as the tyres are showing signs of age, but then I view these as consumables. Granted I've had to replace a few parts over the years, steering rack being the most expensive, but on the whole the car has been really reliable and still drives as smooth and quiet as the day we got her. I've owned fords and vauxhall's that have failed MOT's in the 5th / 6th year with some serious issues.... I just hope that when the time comes to finally get rid of my V70, the next V70 will be just as good.

Coincidentally my 850 (2.5 10v non-turbo) also passed its MOT today - always a good day. It's 25 years old (I've had it for 24 of those years), on ~200k miles and also never failed an MOT.
These really are exceptionally well made cars and will last a long time if looked after. The only other make in this durability league that I see about (other than Land Rovers) are old Toyota Corollas. |
