A similar age/condition Vauxhall Cavalier Mk1 was up for considerably less, having owned both i'd go for the Cavalier any day over a Ford.

As for your £7k 9xx, i wonder too what you'd get for your money! A bit like a 740 Turbo estate that as recently the subject of a thread on here and a deposit was paid by a member - on arrival it wouldn't start, when it did it ran rough, bits of trim hanging off, vacuum hoses and similar blanked off with woodscrews and other problems, nowhere near a £2k car which is what it was listed for on ebay!
I had a mark 1 Cavalier. Bought it for £450. Ran it for a couple of years and spent virtually nothing on it. Sold it for £250 I seem to recall. Cheap, reliable motoring which served me very well as a young lad with my first foot on the property ladder.

I seem to remember seeing that one on ebay (or similar) about a year or so back, in need of new sills and other remedial work. Something about it looks wrong, can't put my finger on it but weren't all the roof bars Anthracite? Didn't all 940s have Anthracite bumpers at that age?

Yeah it does look a tad optimistic.
