side skirts / skirting...
My 1998 V40 has no side skirts/skirting or front additional spoiler and no rear lower additional spoiler/skirt, which I thought was odd, but I have seen two other v40s without skirts in this past week, no idea what age they are as Polish registrations don't display that info. I cannot see anywhere on my car where the skirting would have been fixed either....
Did some V40s come without skirts/skirting, spoilers etc? It does have a rear roof spoiler though, which looks original. |

Every single S/V40 came with sideskirts, so it is rather unusual that you don't have them. The front spoiler was on all cars on Phase 1 models, but only on some on Phase 2 models (2000-2004). With regards to the mudguards on the front and rear wheel arches, they were an option and only on some models

Oh and with regards to how they are fitted, there are some white double side clips, some round pins with a centre locking pin and a 10mm bolt

@gatos Thank you for your comprehensive reply.
I will have a look under mine tomorrow. As I said, I have noticed a couple here in Poland without side skirts, and without the additional front spoiler and rear skirt, why would people remove them, do they break or shatter easily? There is pictures of an 'R' reg v40 featured in this forum that also doesn't have side skirts, I think the member calls it 'vera' but not sure.... |

No, actually, they are quite strong and quite well fitted on the car, so it is very unikely that people lost them on the road. Unless if someone went over big rocks and messed them up, but that would also destroy the exhaust and everything else under there.
The type of plastic they use for the sideskirts and the Phase 1 (1996-2000) front spoiler is a flexible plastic that does not go brittle over the years and it can take quite a few knocks without cracking really. The Phase 2 (2000-2004) front splitter on the other hand is a bit more brittle and will crack if it knocks something. Not sure why quite a few cars in Poland do not have the sideskirts. Maybe it is a trend that someone started and people started removing them....lol. Not sure. As I said, every single S/V40 I have seen in England, France, Sweden and Greece, had sideskirts And finally, I am 100% sure that your car will have those square holes under there, as they were standard on every single S/V40
