I'd make a very wild guess they are from another Volvo model, perhaps the 960 or maybe another marque entirely. Some photos may help with identification as they may also be custom-made for the funeral industry.

These were not a volvo part , Nilsson Sweden did the conversion , who knows they may still have a set ...

Hi, I would love Nilsson Sweden to have a set left over from there 940 conversions what I will not like is the price they would charge. I wonder if there is hearse grave yard .Sorry scrap yard that anybody knows about.I will continue to look.

Have you not got a set or do you have a set in poor condition, it may well be best to get them reconditioned

Hi,Have not got a set and am looking for something to put on top of my 740 GLE light silver/green.Black roof bars would not look right so looking for something in chrome,have to sort my sunroof and roof linning out so was going to do all at once,just think chrome would look good and would set the car off.

Have a look at Pg23 of that pdf - shows the roof rails for the V90, 965, 765 and 745, all the same rails. Supplied in Anthracite, that in itself would work well with Silver-Green (mine is that colour too so i can see it would work) but black or chrome would work equally as well.

I don't know if they're aluminium or steel, i would guess the end caps/brackets are aluminium or aluminium alloy, not sure about the rails themselves but could be powder coated in a chrome finish or if it's all aluminium, could be anodised with a high gloss, bright silver finish or even the same colour as the car.

Alternatively, you could have them chrome plated.

Get on some banger racing groups on Facebook, 940 hearses are still regularly raced and are a good supply of used parts.

Later cars (95MY onwards) used the more streamlined style of roof bar shown in the catalogue with 3-point mounting. When fitted from new, these were anthracite painted on 940's and body colour painted on 960 mk2. They were standard on certain trim levels/years, optional extra on the rest. Obviously catalogue shows that these can also be retro-fitted to the older models.

Earlier cars had the original, more angular style with 4-point mounting. These were nearly always silver coloured (I'm pretty sure clear anodised) or occasionally black and were not standard on any models, only an option, and because of this are quite rare. See these 2....
