The Mercedes model GLC in right hand drive form for the UK and Ireland has an ongoing serious issue which causes the front tyres to squirm and even skip on the road during low speed tight turns. It is almost as if they forgot to fit a differential between the front wheels or between the front and back axles. So called ‘wind up’ in other words. This causes severe tyre wear and scuffing. Check it out for yourself on the internet and YouTube.
Avoid like the plague. Mercedes have not, to my knowledge, sorted this issue and claim that it is a ‘characteristic ‘.

Thanks for your advice , i have been told about this by a few GLC owners ( a dog forum im a member of there a a lot of Mercedes owners) and not one is happy with there car or mercedes. One of them has acctually swapped it for a XC40 and is much happier. I have already decided against the mercedes and decided that it is between kia vs volvo and im going to test drive again today both cars and for the first time im taking my dog with me to see if he happily fits in both. If he does then im most likley to pick the volvo as i much prefer it. So i am keeping my fingers crossed he fits. I did want to ask XC60 owners have you had any major problems with your cars and how reliable are volvo i know they tend to be around the middle area of surveys? |

Hi Everyone
Volvo is the winner I tried both again today dog fitted in both perfectly fine but i could not help that i got a bit more giddy and excited in the XC60 and it just makes me feel like a queen. It also just felt more sturdy and better qulity than the sorento. I knew then which one deep down i prefered. And when i was cuddling Duke ( st bernard) while he was sat in the xc60 boot i knew safety was more important to me as he will be safer in a volvo than a kia. ( i know im safer too but id do anything for Duke hes my best friend) And the volvo holding it future value and the great discounts i can get on it helped me make my descion too. Another thing i noticed was the volvo has better soundproofing as it was a bit quiter. Im happy with my choice and know i have made the right decision. Anyways i will update once i have got my new volvo ( im doing research on dealers first so i know who is a good dealer) I wanted this thread now to only focus on the XC60 and am hoping some of you owners wil tell me your opinions on your car and why you love it. |

As regards dealerships, I note that you live in Stafford........if you life on the south side I can 100% recommend the dealership in Shrewsbury (north side) who operate in a totally different Volvo supported business model than almost another dealership which is noted in their customer focused engagement.

Welcome to Volvo ownership!
Just make sure you get the proper Volvo metal dog guard. It is far better and stronger than anything on the aftermarket.

I shortlisted the following SUVs:
Volvo XC60, Mercedes GLC and Audi Q5 I removed almost instantly from the shortlist the Mercedes GLC because it's already an old model that will be refreshed this year. Then I compared the Volvo with Audi on all the aspects: Performance, price, reliability, comfort, etc Audi does win a lot of the head to head comparatives but when I sat down on a Volvo XC60 and tried it, it instantly made the click. I was an Audi customer for many years and Audi is more of the same old same old so I was not impressed when I tried the Q5. Also, tried to configure a Q5 with all the extras I wanted and I arrived at a price that was 9k pricier than the Volvo. I'm completely yielded to Volvo and I can say for sure that my next car will be another Volvo.
