While they came up pretty well, my MR2 headlights soon went very cloudy again, presumably because I didn't used a UV screen. I'm planning to redo and use this https://www.amazon.co.uk/303-Protect.../dp/B0004ELKC4

Will do, ordered the UV stuff from Amazon should the spraying fail.

Well all done, never done it before so good 1st effor me thinks. Not 100% looking a foot away but 100% better than the cracked and crazed look.

Managed to get some crap on the lense during spraying so have polished out as best as possible.

Must say it's black magic how putting clear coat in dull sanded plastic makes it instant clear, I had reservations about it working.

800 ! ! ! ! !! ! !
Start with 1200 grit , very soapy water & finish off with 2000 grit with very soapy water . BUT you MUST polish with a G3 polishing compound to remove any fine scratching and this is before you apply any UV resisting varnish / paint / lacquer .

You are aiming for a like new or almost like new finish prior to sealing .
I know the score as I have done many headlights to ensure they pass their MOT

You can at a push , use a G3 polish with a mopping machine , BUT make sure you mist with clean water to ensure you do not overheat & mark the plastic & keep the abrasive particles mobile in the mop / sponge

Yes 800 as instructed by many a website including YouTube.

Did not polish 1st as again was advised to go straight to painting.

Have done several sets myself now and pretty much this though I did use wet 800 grit on the really bad ones... and finished with some Autosmart Evo 1 with the machine and then a hard wax. Last set were done about 6 months ago, car has been washed once since then and they're still perfectly clear so not 100% convinced by need for the UV miracle sprays to be honest...

Seems different methods to achieve the same, I went with what I thought was best from a Google search.

I would of started with 1200 and soap, the bars of sunlight laundry soap I found effective. With 800 I fear you are putting scratches in that you have to then take out. It will undoubtedly take longer starting with 1200 but I belive the results would be better.

Finish with G3 cutting compound or Tee cut.

Not seen the UK reflective sprays but it seems something to consider.

Paul.
