Email and give them a few days to reply, then phone and explain the situation! Can't not answer then even if it's a polite no for phone advise, or need the car to read the codes.
Hope you get it sorted. James |

well i got a reply very quickly:
Thank you for your enquiry. We should have all the diagnostic tools required for your job but our foreman says that when the clock spring as been removed without locking up, it sometimes needs replacing. The best thing to do is give us a ring and we can discuss the situation with you... Yours Volsaa What i'm wondering now is where do you get a volvo 940 clock spring from?!

Horn....Air Bag....Clock Spring ?????????????
Anyway, it sounds as if their foreman might know exactly where to get a, clock spring. (There's a cardboard box of them in the third drawer down, right hand side of his desk, if you are very lucky. Otherwise you might need great uncle bulgaria.) . |

i haven't really got the funds or the time to be messing around anymore with it unfortunately and the fact it has no MOT or tax just makes life more difficult so i'm hoping someone will save it
Thanks James

It's a shame to give up on it for just an airbag warning light. At most think £100 should fix it even if it needs a good used airbag. Anyway hope if you do definitely sell it you get a good price and it lives on. Sadly see it being broken. James. |

Contact reel
It seems like when you removed the airbag you have not used the locking screw at the end of the plastic strip to secure the contact reel (or clock spring) in its centre position. Now it has fully unwinded itself internally and is broken beyond repair. I am afraid the only solution now is to fit a new one.
You're in good company though, it has happended to quite a few people here in Holland already... |

I thought this to be the case. I have now decided to sell to someone who hopefully has the time and knowledge to bring the car back to its former glory
Thank you for all the help from this forum. I have been a member a long time and i'll miss my volvo but i'll still enjoy posting here Thanks James
