Default Radio fault

Hi fellow proper car owners!,my first post.
Volvo XC70 with hu850 radio common fault of no sound apart from a 'clicking'.
I've tried another amplifier, still the same.
I've taken the unit to a local repairer, he thinks it's to do with the volume control but isn't certain and can't source the part, so I'm not confident of his expertise with this.
I know it's a common issue, has anyone found a repairer that can fix these units or is there a good replacement to suit?
I'm in the New Forest.

Many thanks,

Steve

I believe it's the fault of a pair of transistors &/or a 3.3v regulator near the tuner can on the main board. I can't confirm since although I had partial results reflowing the solder, I managed to lift a pad & track off the board when I received the new parts.

If you're handy with a soldering station then I can give you the component numbers and values, otherwise I believe Lukas on here does repair these although unsure of the price.

For what it's worth though, we have ended up replacing it with an HU603 and it's plenty good enough for us. Just make sure any replacement unit is "divorced" from it's original vehicle and can be coded in to your car. What seems to happen if you just fit one without coding is that it works but you lose the steering wheel controls for volume/search and it doesn't light up at night.
