hi, very interested in the car. might be on tomoro to give more details, is it defo the 240 estate? what roughly would be needed for next mot?

it's definitely a 240 estate, go to page 1 of this thread and you'll find a link to the pictures.

i'm not really sure what it needs ? when we bought the other car, i fixed up the one with the best cosmetic look, as i intend to do some shows with it.

the radiator might not last long, it seems to randomly leak, then stop !!
i just bought one for the other 240 from ebay for about 60 quid brand new.

i know the middle box of the exhaust is holed, someone has tried to repair it, if you stuck a bandage around it, it might just be ok, depends how strict your mot guy is ! the rest of the system is whole, but old, i don't know how easy it would be to separate it, so i'd allowed for a whole exhaust. i suppose you could weld it, but i just didn't have the time.

apart from that, the car drives really well, there aren't really any knocks and bangs, kirsti spent quite a bit on it over the last couple of years, it's actually her car, but she gave it to me as she couldn't afford to look after it.

there wasn't any advisory notices at last year's mot, the underfloor area seems really sound. brake/fuel pipes are all ok so far as i can see.

we put new track rod ends, and a balljoint on it last year, it also has a fairly new water pump, and a (home performed ) engine service about 500 miles ago, changing the oil, plugs etc.

i'd reckon you could spend a couple of hundred and get a perfectly useable car, it's just that we have the other 240, and another 7 cars between us, so storage is an issue !!

looking at the prices on ebay, i reckon you could put this car on the road for much less than that.

weather permitting i'll be working on the other volvo on sunday if you wanted to come for a look.

i'd much rather the car went to someone who will look after it, than to the crusher, or the cowdenbeath racewall, but if you cross my palm with 100 quid, you can do what you want with it !!

Last chance if anyone wants it. The tax is out in two weeks. After that it's getting scrapped as we've nowhere to keep it.

lost patience, got 150 for it, maybe i should have just done it from the start !

one less volvo 240 in the world now !!
