D5 (2005 on) - volvo newbee

hi just joined, just bought 05 plate s60 d5 yesterday. 1st impressions are excellent, how do i no if i have 163 or 185 bhp version. dealer told me 185 but specs on net tell me 163. hope im posting in the right place thanks

You could also post it in S60, V70 & XC70 00' to 07' section. Might be better in there.

A quick way BUT NOT FOOLPROOF is to open the bonnet and look at the engine cover.

All Black = 163 bhp

Grey with Black edge = 185bhp

The difinitive way to tell is the VIN the 6th and 7th characters

D5244T = the old original 163 bhp with Black cover ... 79
D5244T5 =The new 163 bhp with light grey cover .... 69
D5244T4 = The 185 bhp engine Light grey cover ... 71

The lower two engines are identical except for software changes .. and differ from the original 163 bhp D5 in many ways with different fixtures and fittings etc ..

a well was hopeing 185 but after 96 peugot 306 sedan its still luxuriouse and bloody fast. thanks a lot for help, all i have to do is work out all the buttons haha
