Default Exhaust options for an S60 T5

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help me here please.

Owing to a rusted rear exhaust bracket I need to replace the whole thing (from cat back) pretty quickly. Kwik-Fit have rigged something to stop it rattling but I don't think that will last long. I could replace with a Volvo standard item (or even KwikFit I suppose) or I could go for a Performance one. Are they worth the money?

Volvo quoted about £350 plus fitting (with some discount for age), Kwik-Fit quoted £203, Kalmar Union / BSR want about £380 plus VAT (plus I have to sort out fitting). Then I saw a reference to Powerflow who would make up a custom one - more money I presume?

Car has had a remap already so I'm leaning towards the performance exhaust but it seems like a lot of hastle and time to get car / exhaust and fitter all in the same place at the same time!

OK, just spoke with Stuart at SW Autos (car was going in there next Monday anyway) and apparently he has a bracket that is a straight replacement for the one that's gone. So, wahey, fix should be around £25 instead of £400+

Boy does that make the weekend look better !!

Default Exhaust bracket replacement

A bent U-bolt does it on the 850, probably the same for the S60.

To delay the inevitable, slather Waxoyl all over the bracket area after giving it a wire brush off.

Why would you do that when the exhaust heats up the waxoyl will just melt off. This will also smoke and create a nasty smell.
The brackets we fit are stainless steel and out live the exhaust system anyway.

Thanks Stuart

Just wanted to say thanks to Stuart for his work on the car last Monday. It had been booked in to get the front bushes replaced with the Powerflex ones and he also had the correct shaped bracket to hold up the middle of the exhaust. Of course by the time I got there the back bracket had gone too (presumably put under unusual twisting forces after the middle one went and possibly the quick fix from Kwik Fit) but Stuart kindly welded the back part up too so all sorted out now.

Spent a pleasant week in the rain around Kent, picked up a nice stone chip in the windscreen though and it's just turned into a large T shaped crack Phoned the insurance company and looks like I'll be wasting my Tuesday morning sitting around at an Autowindscreens place in Slough now!
