Default Entire headliner collapsing!

Went down to help my daughter out with her v40 a few weeks back and got a lot done. Just as I was patting myself on the back for all the completed work I looked in the rear view mirror and noticed that only the rear dome light is holding up the headliner fabric creating a very uncool “tent” effect in the rear of vehicle. I’m guessing it was the crazy hot Florida weather that did the adhesive in. Seems like a very awkward job to get it back up and tacked...any suggestions. I will be honest my first thought was to take a staple gun to it but I’m not even sure that would hold. It looks very embarrassing!

I think the only way to make a proper job of it is to remove the headlining from the car and re-glue it.This should be easier on a V40 than an S40 as of course you have the advantage of the tailgate opening that the saloon doesn't.The trick is to get the tension of the headlining material correct so you don't finish up with wrinkles/creases.Would it be possible to source a better one from a breaker and just swap them out?

Yeah I’m wondering whether that is a better plan. Thank you for the feedback.

Don’t forget to use heat resistant glue (spray or tin)

Same thing happened to me in my '02 S40. I used some 3M spray glue to put it back together. The hard part is getting the edges back under the rubber weather stripping. Just take your time and do it one section at a time.
