I ran out recently when it was reading more than a quarter in the tank with 125 miles range.
Sat in it one frosty morning last month waiting on it to defrost and it spluttered and died.
Didn't think it was fuel related due to the read outs so called the AA. No errors were showing so the guy got underneath and banged on the tank and it sounds like a bass drum. So he dropped 10L in it and it eventually started but was taking its time lifting fuel before it would fire up so I took it to be more and it took another 58L so the numbers didn't add up.
Booked it into the dealer under warranty and they said it needed a software upgrade.
That was just before new year so I've not had a chance to see if it worked but I'm not prepared to let the tank get so low as to find out either!

Volvo had a problem with erroneous readouts of the fuel level from the saddle style tanks. A recall was issued, at least here in Sweden.

Neither do I want to run out of fuel in my V70 while buzzing down the motorway in the outside lane at 70mph or while accelerating down the acceleration lane on to the motorway or crossing a busy dual carriageway!
Not only will you cause a massive pileup, you will also loose your power steering and brake servo.
Running out of fuel should be an offence, punishable by points/ fine if you survive!!
It is in Germany...

The problem is aswell that it has the digital display so apart from the fuel bars down the side showing every 8th, I have no other way of knowing.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Just annoying that I am having to drive around not really knowing how much fuel I have left in the tank
onbord computer is not a fuel gauge don't use it as one and you will never run out .....
