Default HELP! unresponsive HU850 and steering wheel controls

I've just purchased a rather nice looking D5 after playing around with the stereo it seems like it doesn't want to select any of the buttons on the unit nor will not accept no cds. It's seems as though something stuck in the multichager but whenever I press eject nothing happens no noise. First of all is this simple fix if not how easy is it to install an aftermarket unit.

its fairly easy to replace.

These work with the steering wheel controls I believe, bit pricey, but certainly an interesting option! I've never tried one but I was tempted before in an older car with the HU-850

I believe they updated the newer versions so the font matches the Volvo oem style, although not 100% sure on thats

Regarding my HU-850 is there anyway to get the headunit functioning or am I stuck on the one station. it's rather frustrating trying to get a station that's on 107.2 let alone not being able to change to another station. I'm not willing to pay premium for replacement. But, rather get this unit back to life; if its only something minor.

You're in the 2007 onwards section so may not quite so many responses to your queries.

For the CD, pressing the eject button will only do something if there are CDs already inside. The 850 is quite prone to CD mech failure unfortunately. You can go the aftermarket route and I have a nice double DIN fascia and all the wiring for sale if you are interested?

I've tried everything but unfortunately, I'm getting nowhere :-( If you've got the amplifier patch then I'll be interested, Do you also have steering wheel controls?

See posts #5 and 6 for info on the kit. With the Pioneer at least you can get a CANBUS adapter that allows the steering wheel controls to be used. Somewhere in the region of £50 so not especially cheap.
